Course Details

In this course you will learn how to use a wide range of tools in Adobe Illustrator. You will explore the enhanced recolor artwork feature, which helps you choose a harmonious color scheme for your image and completely alter the color palette of any image with just a few clicks. You can accomplish a wide variety of design tasks with Adobe Illustrator. You will also see how the redesigned Gradient tool makes it easier to adjust colors directly on an image. You can even paint brushstrokes on your canvas, using brushes that look and work like the bristle brushes from an art supply store.

In addition, you will learn how to draw and trace with the Pen tool and how to fine tune the contours of any line. You will also discover how to work with color and add special effects such as 3D to your drawings. The course also explores the benefits of using layers and symbols, drawing in a perspective way and much more.

 

Course Overview

Workspace Basics
To make the best use of the extensive drawing, painting and editing capabilities of Adobe Illustrator CS4, it’s important to learn how to navigate the workspace. Take a tour of the workspace which consists of the menu bar, Tools panel, control panel, Document window, and the default set of panels.
Selecting and Aligning
This chapter is all about objects and one of the most basic things you need to be able to do with an object is select it. In this tutorial you will learn how to organize and lay out your artwork, use tools for selecting, positioning, stacking, aligning, grouping them so that they are treated as a single, selectively isolate, lock or hide objects.
Creating and editing shapes
In this lesson, you will add and edit artboards, then create and edit some basic shapes for a technical manual.
Transforming objects
You can modify objects in many ways as you create artwork, including quickly and precisely controlling their size, shape, and orientation. In this lesson, you will explore creating and editing artboards, the various Transform commands, and specialized tools as you create several pieces of artwork.
Drawing with pen tool
The Pen tool is excellent for drawing precisely, including straight lines, Bezier curves, and complex shapes. You will practice using the Pen tool on a blank artboard and then use it to create an illustration of an apple.
Working with type
Text as a design element plays a major role in your illustrations. Like other objects, type can be painted, scaled, rotated, and so on. In this lesson, discover how to create basic text and interesting text effects in Illustrator.
Working with symbols
In this tutorial we are going to learn about the symbols feature in detail and how they can be used to obtain the output without wasting much of our time.
Colors and Painting
Spice up your illustration with colors by taking advantage of color controls in Illustrator. In this information packed lesson, you will discover how to create and paint fills and strokes, use the Color Guide panel for inspiration, work with color groups, recolor artwork, create patterns, and more.
Working with Layers
In this lesson, you will finish the artwork of a wall clock as you explore the various ways to use the Layers panel. Working with layers include creating, moving, locking, viewing, pasting, merging and making clip mask to a layer.
Blending shapes and Colors
In this lesson you will explore various ways to create your own color gradients, blend colors and shapes together using the Gradient panel and the Blend tool.
Working with effects
In this lesson, you will create objects using the Distort & Transform, Pathfinder, texture, warp and 3D effects.
Working with Brushes
In this lesson, you learn how to work with the Blob Brush tool and the Eraser tool. You also learn how to use the four brush types in the Brushes panel, including changing brush options and creating your own brushes.
Applying appearance attributes and graphic styles
In this lesson, you will enhance the design for a web page by applying appearance attributes and graphic styles to the type, background and buttons.
